The former Music Saloon, Mechanics Institution, and Museum is now home to Wakefield College's performing arts centre.

The College, having taken over the building, now use it for students to learn to act, sing and dance in musical theatre. The historic building acts as a traditional host for the shows and plays that the college perform, and reviews applaud the success of the building in finding the perfect use.
